Chapter 8: Waste Water Treatment

Hockerton Housing Project uses a wetland waste water treatment system to manage the effluent from the homes and business.  Our use of a septic tank and a reedbed provide a high degree of treatment whilst keeping the potential for net energy production through the growth of useful plant biomass and fish.

This factsheet sets out our design process, including adaptation to our site, and the construction of the system.
