Higher Education

HHP regularly runs tours and gives presentations for Universities and Further Education colleges. However we are happy to discuss other ways in which we can work with you and your students. We have got involved in a number of joint ventures, studies and student research projects over the years. Recently these have included:

  • Supporting increased knowledge and skills of building professionals in delivering low carbon buildings (Loughborough and Nottingham Universities)
  • Monitoring performance of HHP wind turbine (Loughborough University)
  • Water quality from rainwater collection system at HHP (Loughborough University)
  • Air-tightness of buildings (Leeds Metropolitan University)
  • Development of web based network for building professionals interested in sustainable development (Zero Emission Network) (University of Nottingham)
  • PhD study of water voles and water shrews at HHP (Nottingham Trent University)

Tours of HHP

Our Introductory Tours are suitable for undergraduates, and Technical Tours can be tailored to meet the needs of postgraduate groups.

"Thank you very much for a fantastically informative and engaging visit to the Hockerton. Again, the students found it very useful and interesting. I hope we continue coming to you each year and with larger numbers."

(Swinal Samant, Lecturer in Architecture, University of Nottingham, April 07)

To book an introductory or technical tour for your group or organization please complete the online Group Tour enquiry form, email hhp@hockerton.demon.co.uk or call 01636 816902 to discuss. Minimum group size is 10, so we advise individual students to come on one of our monthly Introductory Tours or, if you want advice on how to put your ideas into practice, one of our Master Classes could meet your needs.

Presentations/guest lectures

We have delivered presentations to a wide range of courses; including architecture, building & construction, planning, and mechanical engineering. However we would be happy to discuss the applicability for other courses.

In general the presentations focus on covering aspects of the Hockerton Housing Project, but we are happy to adapt them to focus on particular areas of interest.

If you would like to discuss or arrange for a HHP member to provide a lecture for your course, please email hhp@hockerton.demon.co.uk  or call 01636 816902.
