The Workshop in detail

We will provide a unique 'real-life' experience of renewables for visitors. This will enable attendees to better deliver their own renewable energy projects. It is not about designing blades or tightening bolts but covers what is necessary to install and run a wind turbine to generate an income. Through the day you will discover ways to reduce the risks, avoid the pitfalls and maximise your revenue. If you have your own project in mind there will be a chance to discuss this with people who have recently successfully installed both a large community owned wind turbine, two different smaller machines and a PV array. Guided tours of theses will enable you to get to grips with the scale and reality of the systems.

Workshop attendees will learn from HHP's experience in planning, installation and ongoing maintenance and visit the following systems:

  • A Vestas V29, 225kW, 31m tower, 29m diameter blades
  • Proven WT6000 6kW, 26m tower, 5.6m diameter blades
  • Evance ISKRA R9000 5kW, 26m tower 5.4m diameter blades
  • PV array 7.6 kW 90 panels 6 inverters.

HHP has worked closely with Sustainable Hockerton Limited (SHL) the owners of the Vestas machine in Hockerton Parish. Representatives of SHL will be present on the day to share their knowledge.
