A one day workshop to learn from Hockerton’s experience of renewable energy generation, from technology options and planning applications through to earning income from the Feed-in Tariff.

This event will be of particular interest to community groups and farmers wishing to install a wind turbine to reduce carbon emissions and benefit from the Feed in Tariff.

We will provide a unique 'real-life' experience of renewables for visitors. This will enable attendees to better deliver their own renewable energy projects. It is not about designing blades or tightening bolts but covers what is necessary to install and run a wind turbine to generate an income. Through the day you will discover ways to reduce the risks, avoid the pitfalls and maximise your revenue. If you have your own project in mind there will be a chance to discuss this with people who have recently successfully installed both a large community owned wind turbine, two different smaller machines and a PV array. Guided tours of theses will enable you to get to grips with the scale and reality of the systems.
Workshop attendees will learn from HHP's experience in planning, installation and ongoing maintenance and visit the following systems:
HHP has worked closely with Sustainable Hockerton Limited (SHL) the owners of the Vestas machine in Hockerton Parish. Representatives of SHL will be present on the day to share their knowledge.
