HHP Master Class – RE:generation

Renewable energy generation explained

This workshop provides an opportunity to get an in-depth understanding of the jointly owned renewable energy systems located at the HHP homes and in the village of Hockerton. It covers technical, financial and practical aspects of the technologies which include domestic and community scale wind turbines, PV arrays and a small solar thermal system.

Why should you attend?

This master class gives delegates an understanding of how to make renewable energy work for them in their homes, communities and businesses:

  • Community engagement - find out what the community wants and turn that into a plan of action
  • Technology - how to determine the technology that’s right for you
  • Planning applications – avoid the pitfalls
  • Legal – identify the structures suitable for your community
  • Financial – understand feed-in tariffs, share issues and other fund raising options, supportive institutions and banks
  • Management – consider the time required, the flow of work, and learn about useful contacts in the field
  • Grid connection – understand the practical aspects of linking to the grid and selling your energy
  • Seeing, hearing and feeling three community owned wind turbines and a PV array.

All set at Hockerton Housing Project, one of the most energy and resource efficient developments in Europe.
