The 06/07 edition of Diggers & Dreamers reappears once more in the handy small format. It contains a Directory of UK communities, completely revised and with an easy alphabetical listing. The book is well illustrated and each community describes itself and gives contact details. There is a location map for the communities, and a cross-index which allows users to easily pick out communities with certain characteristics, such as urban or rural location, size, dietry regime and spiritual focus. Sustainability icons indicate the emphasis each community puts on a whole range of factors from money and transport to energy and land use. As well as existing communities there are listings of new and forming communities plus networks and support organisations. Beginners should start by reading the Ten Communal Truths revealing everything from why not all communards love each other to who that person up on the roof really is!
